Veritas wines may be purchased at the winery, online, and at fine establishments throughout Virginia. The winery is open Mon-Fri from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sat-Sun from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. We enjoy meeting our customers, so please come for a visit.  Veritas wines may be purchased at many locations throughout Virginia, from restaurants to wine shops to B&Bs.

Scintilla™

Scintilla™ is a brut sparkling wine made in the traditional method that is used in Champagne, where the second fermentation is completed inside of the bottle to trap the bubbles. Scintilla™ is also a Blanc de Blancs style, which means it is comprised of 100% Chardonnay. These grapes are harvested at the perfect time to preserve the clean acidic character you find in the finished wine. Scintilla™ shows a rich golden color and has a brilliant reflection with small elegant bubbles. The aroma and flavors are extremely fresh and crisp reminiscent of acidic fruits such as lemon, green apple and pear, accented by a touch of yeast and toasted brioche. The finish is clean, long and showing beautiful acidity which is heightened by creamy overtones.

Sauvignon Blanc 2012

If “Pristine” were a color, that is how I would describe the color of the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, which is just paler than pale lemon. The aroma is even more promising with bright, fresh white flowers, lemon-lime, citrus, passion fruit and that touch of tangy grassiness that so characterizes Sauvignon Blanc. The taste confirms the expectations of a zesty, crisp tartness of balanced fresh lime; grapefruit and green apple wrapped up in a light bodied refreshing style. This is a bright and fun wine to drink with delicate white fish, oysters and shrimp.

Saddleback Chardonnay 2012

The 2012 Saddleback Chardonnay is modeled after the “old world” style from Chablis, France. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in primarily neutral French oak barrels for 4 months. The nose is clean and showing aromas of apple, pear, honeydew melon and kiwi. The Saddleback Chardonnay is medium bodied and layered with ripe tree fruits continuing with soft impressions of toast and spice from oak aging. Saddleback Chardonnay is a perfect wine to compliment light fish and shellfish dishes, or even poultry with citrus sauces.

Harlequin Reserve Chardonnay 2011

Harlequin is our barrel fermented, oaky – buttery Chardonnay sort of a white Burgundy. Harlequin is the expression of everything that is Veritas – true to the vineyard, the grape and the wine making. The wine is a delicate pale yellow in color smelling of honey, golden delicious, white melon and a nuance of soft oak. As you taste – the first impression is a wonderful creamy fullness that is perfectly balanced with white fruit, candied apples, pears that accentuate flavors of lightly toasted brioche on the palate. The finish lasts forever-but do not wait too long – match it with smoked fish, salmon, trout and to die and go to heaven – buttery lobster.

Viognier 2012

As pale yellow as winter sunshine that gradually brightens to yellow primrose, our 2012 Viognier has a heady aroma of lush peach and orange blossom. “White Star” shows to be a complex but palate friendly style of wine. Red Star™

Red Star™ is one of the most palate-friendly and popular wines we have created at Veritas in recent years. Cabernet Franc 2012

Our 2012 is a Cabernet Franc that has all the niceties of a good Virginia Cabernet Franc. The color is ruby with garnet accents and slightly lighter than in previous years yet the aroma is pleasantly fresh with floral red fruits that lead into bright tastes of raspberry and cherry with a black-pepper finish. The wine is ultimately quaffable – a perfect accompaniment to lighter red meat, particularly lamb, veal, and chicken – even salmon if the fancy takes you.

Vintner's Reserve 2010

VR is comprised of 42% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 25% Petit Verdot, and 16% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is deep ruby red in color and the bouquet is a delicate balance of cherry, chocolate, and fresh cigar box enveloped in an aroma of fresh black fruits. Luscious flavors of cherry unfold with rich yet assertive tannins on the palate leaving a structured and elegant finish accentuated with complex flavors of vanilla, caramel, and mocha from barrel aging. VR is a perfect wine to enjoy with any red meat from Filet Mignon to Ribe Eye, Venison, or Lamb.

Petit Verdot 2010

2010 Petit Verdot “Paul Shaffer 4th Edition” is made using 100% Petit Verdot and shows intense aromas and flavors of violets followed by plum, blackberries, currants, black pepper and toasted vanilla bean. Small lot fermented. Punched down several times daily through fermentation and once a day during extended maceration helping to extract deeper color and soft tannins. 16 months of aging in French oak barrels help to add complex aromas of tobacco and cedar as well as giving structure for long temp cellaring

"3" is the third annual triumvirate effort from winemakers Emily Pelton (Veritas Winery), Jake Busching (Grace Estate Winery) and Matthieu Finot (King Family Vineyards). The 2012 vintage of "3" is again a blend of three varietals, but this year it is a white wine blended from Viognier, Chardonnay and Petit Manseng. Bright, fresh aromas of stone fruits on the nose are complemented by a palate with exquisite proportion and balance.
